Parent Update Monday 26th October
Dear Parent/ Carer
A very warm welcome back to you all. We hope you had a wonderful October break and are feeling relaxed and ready for a new term. As we enter Term 2 in this very unusual year, we may not know what will unfold in the coming weeks but we do know that we will endeavour to keep you all updated with any new developments or changes as they occur. Our aims and vision for the term remain the same – to ensure that the children are safe and ensure that their wellbeing needs are met so that they are ready to learn Literacy, Numeracy and Health & Wellbeing through a range of tasks and approaches.
Thank you to those of you that completed the Communication Preferences Form at the end of last term. The preference of fortnightly newsletters was decided. Below is the information that you will need for the next few weeks.
We will have a few new faces around the school over the next few weeks and are delighted to introduce Mrs Louise Bennett and Mr Mark Sambrook who join the PSA team.
This term we also have 3 postgraduate students who will have a work experience placement in P5, P6 & P7 classes. This placement will mostly be observing the class teacher and working with small groups then building up to a few continuous teaching days.
A reminder that the staff car park is for staff cars only. This is a safety issue and we appreciate your help with this. The car park entrance will be coned off to support this.
To support limiting contamination or transmission of COVID-19, the authority guidance states that children should be outdoors daily for at least an hour. When the pupils are outdoors they will be taking part in ‘outdoor learning’. The outdoor tasks are carefully planned by staff to develop learning in a variety of curricular areas.
As the weather changes we would like to remind parents to send their children to school in warm, waterproof clothing everyday. A pair of wellies would be recommended too. It is also a good idea to keep a spare set of clothing in their school bag, just in case they need to change for any reason.
The Parent Council Fundraising Group have organised a few events for the children to enjoy as part of Halloween- thank you! Please see the attached Flyer.
They have firstly invited everyone to dress up as part of a Halloween Dress up day on Friday 30th October. Costumes are welcomed but please, no props or scary masks/make up with the costumes due to the COVID regulations, it is important that we limit contamination with items being brought in from home. Thank you for understanding, we have no doubt it will be a great day!
Their second event is just as fun- The Pumpkin Window Challenge! Stick a picture or carved pumpkin in your window for all to see so that passers by stop and stare. When you see one, grab a treat! The more you find the more you eat! They have asked that you please share your pumpkin pictures with them by emailing. firstname.lastname@example.org
