Dear Parent/ Carer
As we come to the end of this very unusual first term, there not only have been many changes in the world around us but there have also been several changes in our school staffing. I am delighted to have joined the Loirston Team just last week and I am very much looking forward to my time here.
Along with myself, there are a few other new faces in the Senior Leadership Team, please take a look at the short clip below to meet the faces behind the names!
Communication is an essential part of working together and we hope to make these school updates a regular occurrence over the session. We would like to hear your views regarding your preferences for communication and to do so, we ask that you complete the short Google Form below-
Our future Parent Updates will be planned following the information we gather from the form. Below are a few pieces of information we wish to pass on before we break up for the holiday period.
Our lovely Lovely Lollipop lady, May does a great job of supporting our pupils to cross the road safely just across from the school. It is so important that the children learn how to do this from a young age and we are extremely lucky to have a dedicated Lollipop Lady at Loirston to help with this. Please support your child to learn how to cross the road safely by doing so at the crossing supported by May. Thank you for helping with this.
Cable Reel Search
We are looking for a sturdy cable reel made of heat treated wood for our Outdoor Area. If this is something you think you can help with, please let us know by contacting the school on Loirston@aberdeencity.gov.uk.
We continue to talk to our pupils about the importance of washing hands. The children are washing their hands regularly throughout the day and this may cause some irritation on sensitive skin. We have found that often the children are in such a hurry to get to their next job that they don’t rinse properly which can cause redness and irritation. Please talk to your child about the importance of washing all of the soap off of the backs of their hands to ensure that they are rinsed properly.
If you find that your child has redness, they are welcome to keep hand cream in their tray to use as required. Please note that we can only allow soaps prescribed by a doctor in school.
As the weather changes with the seasons, we would like to remind you to ensure that your child comes to school prepared for going outside in all weather conditions. Please make sure that they come with a waterproof jacket and appropriate footwear for the cold, wet weather. Hats, scarves and gloves are also recommended and remember to name all items clearly- thank you.
We would like to say a huge ‘Loirston Thank you’ to Mr Blackman for cutting back all of the bushes and trees to make sure the paths and playground were accessible to all. I am sure you will all agree that he has done a great job.
Finally, we would all like to thank you all for your help and support with your child’s learning this term. Please enjoy the break, whatever it may look like for you and your family. We are very much looking forward to seeing you back at the end of October.
