Dear Parent
Re: Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) Vaccine
Following a period of BCG vaccine shortage NHS Grampian are now able to offer BCG vaccine to
all children who fit the eligibility criteria.
We would like to offer BCG to the following eligible school age children:
 Previously unvaccinated, tuberculin-negative children aged from six to under 16 years
of age with a parent or grandparent who was born in a country where the annual
incidence of TB is 40/100,000 or greater.
 Previously unvaccinated, tuberculin-negative individuals under 16 years of age who
were born in or who have lived for a prolonged period (at least three months) in a
country with an annual TB incidence of 40/100,000 or greater.
Attached is a list of countries where the annual incidence of TB is 40/100,000 or greater.
If your child fits the criteria and you would like to arrange a vaccination appointment please contact
the Immunisation Team or telephone 01224 558460. On
receiving contact we will send out paperwork for you to complete and return.
Any queries regarding the above please telephone 01224 558460.
Yours sincerely,
Katrina Morrison
Vaccination Programme Manager
