Newsletter 8

Dear Parents/ Carers

Apologies for the lateness of this Newsletter. January has been a very busy month and the time has run away. So, very belatedly, we wish all our families a Happy New Year.

We have all been working hard in January and have had visits from the SSPCC and engaged in activities around Chinese New Year, Burns Celebrations and Ceilidhs. Many of our events are recorded on Twitter and you can see these by following us at @LoirstonPrimary if you haven’t already done so. We are restricted to posting photos of only those pupils who have consent to be photographed for Twitter. If you have selected no for Twitter but would like your children to feature, then please let the school office know.

All our Teaching staff were involved in organising a Literacy and Technology event. We were delighted to welcome those families who did attend but are in discussions with our Parent Council about how we can attract better attendance. These events are all part of our Reporting to Parents and Carers Process.

We finished the month with a Quality Improvement visit on Friday. This is a process that all schools in the authority take part in. Our pupils were a credit to us and all visitors remarked on how respectful and enthusiastic they were. The hard work of staff and good progress the school has made were evident. We will have some recommendations for future progress, and these will form part of our self-evaluation this session. Staff will audit progress this session in the February Inservice and parents/ carers views will be sought later this term.
