SCILT, Scotland’s National Centre for Languages hosts information on its website to enable parents and carers to support their child’s language learning at home.
Children who engage in sustained language learning develop a better understanding of their mother tongue, which has a positive effect on literacy. Learning additional languages helps to develop intercultural understanding and empathy as well as critical thinking skills.
SCILT is currently reviewing the content on its website and is seeking feedback from parents and carers in Scotland.
Anyone interested in providing feedback, should visit SCILT’s Parentzone. This survey closes on Friday 29 March 2019.
