Updates from Loirston School

Inspection: Continuing Engagement Visit.

The school hosted a visit from a team of inspectors from Education Scotland between Monday and Wednesday this week.

The Inspection Team were positive in their feedback about the progress the school has made in taking forward the main areas for improvement from the last inspection report.

We shall continue to take forward our plans for improvement and build on the good progress that has been made this session.

The school will receive a Record of Visit report in late August in relation to this week’s visit. Once this is available then I will provide a further update for parents/carers.  Parents and Carers will also receive a letter from Education Scotland.

The Care Inspectorate also carried out an inspection visit to our nursery this week. A report on their findings will be published in late August.

Staffing Update:

I am delighted to confirm that Miss Ratcliffe was the successful candidate following recent interviews for the full time primary teacher vacancy we have at the school. Miss Ratcliffe will join the staff at the beginning of session 2018/19.

In addition we are looking forward to welcoming Miss Bennett as a new teacher to the school. Miss Bennett completed her probationary year this session and will be joining the school after the summer.

The school is also very pleased that we shall have 2 probationer teachers as part of the staff next session. Miss Hutcheon and Miss Quadir will also join the school after the summer.

Finally, at the end of this session we shall say farewell to Miss Catahan who will be returning to Canada. We very much want to thank Miss Catahan for her work for the children and the school and we wish her all the very best with her future plans.
