Local and National Out of School Care Survey

Aberdeen City Council and the Scottish Out of School Care Network (SOSCN) are carrying out a survey with parents and children on out of school care in the city.

Part 8 of the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014 requires Local Authorities to consult with parents every 2 years about the provision of day care. We have consulted recently on the expansion of Early Learning and Childcare and we are now seeking the views of parents and children on out of school care. At the same time the Scottish Out of School Care Network is consulting with parents and children across Scotland to inform the development of a new National Policy for Out of School Care in Scotland. So this survey is being carried out as a joint piece of work.

We would be very grateful if you could complete the survey, which should take no longer than 5 minutes. It can be completed online using the link below.

All answers are confidential and anonymous. The information will be used by the Scottish Out of School Care Network (SOSCN) to inform the development of a new National Policy and it will be used by Aberdeen City Council to inform the delivery of out of school care services locally.

We are also planning to consult with children (with appropriate parental permissions) in out of school care settings over the coming weeks to get their views too. The SOSCN ethical guidelines are attached for your information.

The closing date for both surveys is Wednesday 28 February 2018.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or queries.

Thank you very much for your assistance in carrying out this survey.
