New Additions

We have been adding some new features to the blog. On the Contact Details page, there is a form where you can email us directly. We have added a School Improvement Plan page where you can access the School Improvement Plan and the Audit.  We plan to have Homework Information on soon.

Also, at the end of each blog post, you can now click on no comments and add any comment that you may have about any of our posts.

Please let us know if there is any further information that you would like to be made available to you via the School Blog.

School Communication

Some parents have been saying that they have not been receiving communications from school recently. You may remember that you were informed earlier this session that all newsletters and communications, that do not require signatures, would be available only on the school communication blog.

If you are unable to access the Internet and would prefer a paper copy, please contact the school office.

The School Blog can be found at

At the top right of the home page you can enter your email address in the Subsctibe by Email box.  This will enable you to receive an email when there is an update so that you do not have to continually check the blog.

We are currently adding the school improvement plan and information about homework to the blog. We have also enabled comments to allow you to comment on any items that we post.

Please let us know if there is anything else that you would like us to add to the School Blog.

Increase in Cost of School Meals

Dear Parent

Primary School Meals

I am writing to inform you that with effect from Wednesday 18 August 2010 the price of a meal will increase to £1.85.  This has been agreed by Aberdeen City Council to reflect increases in food costs.

School meals provide a third of the daily nutritional requirements needed for growth and development of primary and secondary school pupils. School meals also represent excellent value for money.

Meals are purchased through a Meal Ticket System where tickets are sold either singly or in books of 10, available at schools from the school catering staff who prefer purchases to be made on a Monday morning.  Payment can be in cash or by cheque, with cheques made payable to “Aberdeen City Council”.  From August 2010 books  of lunch tickets can also be purchased from The Point (adjacent to St Nicholas House) and Kincorth, Mastrick and Woodside Customer Access Points. Payment for books of tickets at these offices can be by cash, cheque, debit or credit card. The opening times for each of these offices are detailed below:

The Point                                                            Monday to Friday: 9am to 5pm
Ground Floor, St. Nicholas House
Broad Street
AB10 1BX

Kincorth Customer Access Point                     Monday to Friday: 9am to 4.30pm

Provost Watt Drive                                                     Saturday: 10am to 12.30pm

AB12 5NA

Mastrick Customer Access Point                      Monday to Friday: 8.30am to 5pm

Spey Road                                                            (On Wednesdays the office does
Mastrick                                                                 not open until 10am to allow for
Aberdeen                                                               training)

AB16 6SH

Woodside Customer Access Point                   Monday to Friday: 9am to 4pm

Marquis Road

AB24 2QY

Pre-purchased ‘blue’ tickets will be accepted along with an additional 15p per ticket, paid to the school kitchen, up until Friday 10 September 2010.

Aberdeen City Council have implemented recommendations contained within The Nutritional Requirements for Food and Drink in Schools (Scotland) Regulations 2008  and is committed to encouraging healthy eating.  I trust that you are finding the copies of school menus that are sent home informative and useful to encourage your children to eat a balanced diet over the week.

The School Meals Catering Service would like to thank you for your continued support and we look forward in the forthcoming year to providing our services to you.

 Yours sincerely

David Leng

Primary 5 Football Tournament 31.05.10

Primary 5 Football Tournament Sunday 30th May’ in Kintore!!!!

After topping their group with 4 wins and a draw they beat St Josephs in the semi final to go forward and meet Cults on the final, the game ended 0-0 and unfortunately during the penalty shootout Loirston lost in sudden death.

Neil would like to commend all the players for turning up in the pouring rain and the parents for supporting the team.

Neil wishes the Loirston team all the best and hopes that other keen parents will come forward to keep Loirston’s school teams going!!

“Come on the Loirston Boys!!!!”
