Aberdeen City is providing access to free sanitary products in all schools from the start of this school year. Pupils will be able to take as much product as they need and will be encouraged to take enough product to last weekends and during holidays.
Aberdeen City Council are working with Community Food Initiatives North East (CFINE) to make sure that schools are provided with a range of sanitary products. Once the project is successfully running in schools we will look into providing re-usable products as part of the offer to pupils.
Free sanitary products will either be available in a designated area or from a designated person in the school. Some schools have opted to trial having baskets of sanitary products available in female toilets. Alongside this project, CFINE are providing free sanitary products for low income families throughout Aberdeen. A list of community venues providing free sanitary products is available via the link www.cfine.org/sanitary-products.
Here is an sample of the leaflet that will be sent to all girls in secondary.

Please Contact Kelly Gordon or another member of the Parent council for further information on any of the above.
We are delighted to let you know that from the start of this academic term all schools in Aberdeen will be providing access to free sanitary products. A range of sanitary towels will be freely available to all pupils who need them. Pupils will be allowed to take as many products as they need and are encouraged to take enough products to last over weekends and holidays.
Making sanitary products easily accessible for all pupils who need them will support hygiene needs and positively impact health and wellbeing.
Running alongside this project, FareShare will be providing access to free sanitary products to low income families. Low income families can access free sanitary products at community venues throughout the City. For a list of venues follow the link https://www.cfine.org/sanitary-products or ask at the School Office.
Please contact Mrs Hidson for further information.
This session Loirston will be working in partnership with Aberdeen Football Club Community Trust to deliver sessions which will support our health and wellbeing curriculum. They will be working with a wide range of pupils throughout the school for the duration of this school year. Sessions will be taking place on a Friday afternoon and we are looking forward to working with Claire from AFCCT, starting from next week. She came in today to speak to the pupils and brought along a friend.
Just a reminder that the P6 Living and Growing information session for parents is taking place tomorrow, Tuesday 29th May at 6pm in the community lounge with the school nurse. Hope to see lots of you there.
Due to an accident the fire alarm system was activated during lunchtime. All children were supported to exit the school quickly and safely.
A fire crew have carried out a thorough check of the whole school before giving us the all clear to return indoors.
The Head of The Fire Crew complemented the staff and children for the quick evacuation that had been achieved after the alarm sounded.
On returning indoors lunches were provided for all children who had not yet been served their lunch or whose lunch was interrupted by the alarm.
In order to accommodate the above lunch arrangements, lunchtime was extended until 2pm today.
